Letter from the President:

September 10, 2011

Welcome For Purpose Inc 2011 Conference Attendees!

Our theme for this year is “Moving With Spirit,” and this marks our third 1st Quarter rotation around the wheel (emphasizing a spiritual theme). Our first rotation began in 1993, with each rotation of the wheel lasting eight years. First Quarter energy represents stepping out and DOING our work…how exciting! A copy of the conference schedule will accompany this message, and will have been made public prior to our gathering via our website, as well as on FaceBook.

Please plan on arriving the afternoon of Friday, October 22nd, or earlier if you like. There will be a registration table located in the “Dolphin” room, and we ask that you inform us of your arrival as soon as possible. Registration will continue throughout the week in case there are any daily attendees.

The Opening Ceremony will begin at 6:30 PM. Our special guests, speakers, Phase Leader, Pathway Keepers and Clan Mother will lead us in setting a Medicine Wheel, which will set the intent for the week ahead. The Medicine Wheel is central to our work, and we emphasize the importance of your attendance. Once the Medicine Wheel is set, there will be an informal social “getting to know you” party (featuring light refreshments) afterwards.

Our morning sessions will begin with heartbeat drumming; our afternoon sessions with energy drumming. Drumming is one way to center ourselves, a bringing of our energies together to create a sacred space. We respectfully request silence and ask that conversations be taken into the hallway or outdoors.

Saturday and Sunday attendance is higher due to weekend registrations, and therefore the schedule reflects a slightly higher amount of scheduled activities. This includes a Healing Ceremony on Saturday night; we suggest you wear white (or light) clothing for this event. Following this will be a Vision Quest, led by two of our featured speakers. This year we are adding the option of an extended Vision Quest entitled “Holding Sacred Space”. Traditionally this takes place over an entire night; you are encouraged to stay as long as possible.

This year’s group project is titled “Co-Creating Universal Peace Prayer Flags” and is scheduled as a project on Sunday afternoon, followed by a ritual in the evening using the flags that have been created.

Wednesday features an opportunity for participants to share their thoughts on how they use the Medicine Wheel and/or Moon Phases. Participants may offer insights regarding their evolving growth in order to illustrate how the conference experience has affected them personally. The Scorpio New Moon takes place at 03:55 PM; at this time we will acknowledge our individual intentions for transformation for the coming year. So give some thought ahead of time as to what you would like to see transformed in your life. The day ends with our evening of fun hosted by Jacob Anderson; raffle tickets for this will be sold throughout the week benefiting For Purpose Inc. ($1.00 each or 6 for $5.00).

Don’t forget the optional workshop featuring Donna Drozda on Thursday Oct 27th! You can save money by registering in advance for $40.00 (or $50.00 at the door). You can now register for the conference online using PayPal.

There is an optional no charge Mother-Earth Walk Day scheduled for Friday. Traditionally, this includes visiting Buz’s memorial site, walking the labyrinth at the A.R.E. and ending with lunch (each pays his own).

A healing altar is present throughout the week; personal items of your choosing may be put there to absorb healing energy. Other items you might want to bring to the conference include drums, rattles, divination cards and any item you wish to donate for the raffle and/or give-away tables.

Weather conditions can fluctuate at this time of year, and warm temperatures are not out of the ordinary. An indoor swimming pool is also available, as well as miles of beaches, so you may want to bring a bathing suit. A boardwalk runs along the beachfront for those who like walking and/or riding on bikes or skates. Sites of interest locally include the Edgar Cayce Institute and the Heritage Store, official supplier of Cayce remedies.

If you plan on receiving a service such a reading while at the conference you will be required to sign a release form. You can pick up a release form at the registration desk. Typically there are a variety of readers, so come prepared to select from a variety of healing modalities.

Finally, we welcome seeing you at this year’s conference, and if you should have any questions or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact us. Linda Bress can be reached at 757-572-0246.
Until then, Ho!
Your coordinator, Linda Bress

Letter from the President:

November 24, 2010

Greetings Everyone,

We have just completed our 18th Annual Conference, and what a success! We were graced with such beautiful weather, and a great group of attendees.

I want to thank everyone, especially Joann Dodd, who participated in this past conference and that helped make it successful. Our Community is a special group, and it is always a pleasure meeting newbies and seeing old friends year after year. Our week included heartbeat drumming, energy drumming and Light Calls, different medicine wheels each day, a healing ceremony, a Community luncheon, not to mention the "World Famous" raffle and the Community's famous "Elders Pudding" made by Melody Loving.

Wolf Yoxall helped set the tone for the conference with his talk on speaking & working with Spirit. He also gifted the community with a sacred pipe ceremony during the Vision Quest.

This year we had several new speakers of which M. Kelley Hunter graced us with her wonderful information about the Black Moon Lilith, as well as 2012 & the Venus Pentagram. Kelley's workshop was a lot of fun. We learned so much about our own charts and where all of our Liliths were, & how they affected our charts. Then there was Robert Camp, who gave us a glimpse into our Destiny cards, and how they could give us the information to not only change our lives, but understand more about ourselves. Kevin Neidig charmed us with his delightfully talented voice and songs.

Carole Devine gave us an insight into what we could expect in 2011 and 2012 where our country was involved. What a fabulous Astrologer! If that wasn't enough, she told us how to use the Bible to stop in their tracks, our friends, that seem to think we all might have a little screw loose and preach to us about the evils of Astrology. Cheryl Lysik gave us more info about numerology and applying it to our own chart.

I don't want to leave out Lynn Walker, whose health tips for healing were invaluable. Charlotte Abell enlightened us with not only her knowledge of Astrology, but she passed on to us special gifts from The Angels. Then there was Jacob Anderson, our favorite comic, with his Gemini energy, always full of information, done in a fun way. Sarah Anderson was there with her musical talents, songs and gentle heart. And, Lucinda Smith was terrific as usual, guiding us every morning in Light Calls.

This was our Crescent year; our third time around the wheel and our Spiritual Cycle. Nancy Gardner, did a fabulous job of leading us in a beautiful ceremony around the Medicine Wheel, set with the magnificent Sun Bear rocks painted by Melody Loving. Nancy's talk on Crescent was terrific. Our Conference "Pathways to Spirit" was truly a new experience in learning more about the pathways of the medicine wheel, with Brian Coleman, Tiffany Wagner, Kathryn Wishlow, Sandra Mosley, and our "Clan Mama", Jayma Delaney doing a fabulous job with their presentations. Jayma brought us her take on "It Ain't your Grandma's Medicine Wheel" and if that wasn't fun enough… gave us the chance to get down & dirty with painting our hands and transferring them onto a beautiful wheel. We decorated our painted handprints in any way we chose. Everyone joined in the fun. Thanks to All for that gift.

The last day of each conference is "Honoring Mother Earth Day" & offers optional activities. This year 8 members of the Community visited Buz's memorial on the upper part of the beach and while there, helped set the intent for next year's conference. In a ceremonial way, the 8 people made a phase wheel & a medicine wheel adjoining each other on the beach as they focused on the intent by walking around the wheels in a figure 8 infinity pattern, 8 times. Other activates included a visit to the A.R.E. labyrinth and a great lunch at a Virginia Beach restaurant away from the oceanfront.

If anyone is interested in buying the recordings of our wonderful Speakers, please contact Howard Hill, whom by the way, did a fabulous job as usual with the recordings. Individual talks are available as well as the whole conference.

I want to take a few minutes to talk about Purpose…I feel that our Community's Purpose or mission, is to bring like-minded people together, to learn and have fun, and, to do this all in an atmosphere of unconditional Love.

Buz would be very proud of Us for how far we have come. We still have a ways to go & grow. Each year we try to improve ourselves and we have. At the conference, Nancy Gardner challenged us to start "walking our talk". This year our energy is "Crescent" which is communicating.

The Elders gathered this year at our conference and put out their intent to come together each Crescent Moon Phase and share in conversation. This is something that I would invite the entire community to join in too, so we can stay connected. We are all a family…and families care about each other. Even though they may not be in the same town, they like to know what is going on with their family.

Most of us look forward each year to our Conference because, as members have said "it feeds my soul" and "it is what renews my spirit, which allows me to go back to the real world a better person". Great reasons to join us each year! We hope more newbies & community members who haven't visited us in awhile will join us next year for the First Quarter- "Moving with Spirit" October 21st 2011.

I would also like to mention that if anyone is interested in serving on the board, please prepare a letter saying that you would like your name placed on the ballot. I will be sending out another letter towards the end of the year as to where to send your letter of intent & who will be the election agent, and taking care of the ballots. The board of directors is our Business Wheel, and we invite anyone interested in helping our Community grow with new ideas to put your name in the hat.

Our Community is dependent on your generosity through tithes to our Community and the sales of beautiful items that have been printed for the Community to enjoy: T-shirts, mugs, Buz Myers book, etc. The end of the year is coming and our Community is a not for profit organization, so all donations are tax deductible. We would appreciate your donations. There is a Donation button on every page of the web site, where you can go to Pay Pal and fill in any amount you so generously choose.

There is a saying "Give to that which feeds your soul". Your donation helps our organization bring you each year a wonderful Conference. Thank you in advance for your generous offerings.

I have enjoyed serving the Community, my extended family this year and look forward to continued service to this Community.

I wish each and every one of You and Your Families a healthy and prosperous Holiday Season.

Love,
Linda Bress
President of FPI

Report on the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors:

April 8, 2008

The Board of Directors of For Purpose Inc. held their annual business meeting in Stuart, Florida on March 15, 2008. Directors Charlotte Abell, Linda Coleman, Jonnie-Ruth Kuhn, Iris Lee, Karen Malfregeot, Edna Matthews, Andrea Lynne Rice, and Guy Wagner were present. Carole Devine was absent due to a family illness.

It was noted that directors Charlotte Abell and Edna Matthews were re-elected to the board during the January election. Incoming director Linda Bress was welcomed as a guest. The terms for all three of these directors will be April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2011.

Secretary Edna Matthews read the minutes from the October board meeting and the October community meeting; they were approved by the board.

Treasurer Jonnie Ruth Kuhn gave the Treasurer's Report, which was also approved by the Board. President Karen Malfregeot reported that Mike Delaney had filed the change of fiscal year request with the IRS and that it had been approved. Our fiscal year is now January 1 through December 31st.

The Board unanimously agreed to have Karen Malfregeot continue as FPI's Registered Agent, since our organization is based in Florida.

Linda Bress agreed to continue storing supplies and items used at our October conference for another year.

Karen introduced the idea of FPI contact cards that could be given to interested persons for additional information. The contact cards were approved by the board. Linda Bress volunteered to investigate printing; she will scan samples & then email them to all board members for suggestions and approval. The printed cards will be sent to elders & facilitators, and will also be distributed to the community at the October conference.

The board discussed the annual election process. Howard Hill was commended for coordinating the electronic portion of the 2008 voting. The recent process of having both electronic and mailed ballots has been successful. The board voted for the Vice President to be in charge of coordinating the annual elections, beginning with the 2009 election.

Iris Lee announced that she had videoed and recorded a lot of the 2007 conference. She suggested that this be edited and placed on our website and also possibly YouTube. The board agreed to this suggestion.

The board discussed and agreed to several suggestions for refreshing our website: adding the organization by-laws; adding links for people and organizations that support us; adding an in-memoriam page; adding the FPI history; correcting some of the angel baby information, etc.

For the 2008 FPI conference, "The Next Step... ", the Board authorized updating our brochure and our website (www.FollowTheMoon.org).

Registration fees were also approved: $ 250 if received by October 4th; $ 300 for registration after October 4th.

"The Next Step... " is October 17 - 23, 2008. The afternoon of October 23rd will feature a special post-conference workshop by John Dumas, 'Shamanic Journey into Dreamtime'. October 24th will be the optional Honoring Mother Earth Day for rituals and setting the intent for the 2008 conference.

The Youth Wheel will be offered at the conference, and will again be for the weekend only; pre-registration will be required.

To assist the coordinators and facilitators in overall planning for the conference, it is important for everyone to pre-register this year.

Report on Honoring Mother Earth Day - Received November 17, 2007:

From JT & Charlotte

Our 15th Conference, The Journey Continues …, was filled with the loving energy of the FPI Community family! The evaluations received spoke of a week of delightful learning experiences, great presentations by our speakers and facilitators, a powerful Healing Service, and the excitement of sharing in the energies of a group such as this! Our Thursday afternoon workshop presented by Robert P. Blaschke was inspirational and most informative. The week went by way too quickly – and for the first time in many, many years – and perhaps in the history of our Conferences – we basically were ON TIME! Buz must be so proud of us!

This being ON TIME was sort of 'different' and we likened it to being some of the first to step into the 'New Time' heralded by Pluto going beyond the Galactic Center. Like all New Phase energies, there's lots of freshness and enthusiasm to carry us into the future even though we might not know where we're going! The blossoming of this New Time elicits excitement and the adventurous heart to step into the New with SERVICE being our intent. How fortunate we all are to be living in these exciting and changing times!

Our Friday, October 26, 2007, Honoring Mother Earth Day activities began with 26 of us piling into cars to head for the Buff Foundation Memorial Walkway at 47th Street. Jonnie-Ruth Kuhn told the story of the events surrounding the laying of the brick in honor of Buz Myers several years ago. Each person had a chance to speak from their heart about their experience at the Conference. Charlotte Abell brought the Angelic Toning to the circle as a blessing. Just before the rain showers hit, John Dumas played his flute to end our little ceremony of remembrance.

The ARE Labyrinth was our next stop and the rain ended, the sun peeped out, and the 26 of us walked in prayerful silence. The flute of John Dumas welcomed and honored the four directions after John got to the center of the Labyrinth and then he drummed throughout the rest of the walk. The energy of this sacred space that is open to the public was palpable. Prayers went out to the world and to Mother Earth.

Lunch at Mary's Restaurant was our next stop. Amazingly there were tables just cleaned off and put together for our large group, so we didn't have to wait for a space at this busy and popular restaurant.

Off we went then to the First Landing State Park to make a Medicine Wheel and set the intention for our 2008 Conference. Twenty-six of us! My, how our group has grown! (Last year there were 8 of us!) The skies were heavy and threatening but the rain held off until we completed our ceremony.

John led us to a special place in the Park and then smudged all of us as only a shaman can do! We called in the Four Directions and Mother Earth and Father Sky to create the sacred space in which to speak our prayers and intentions for our next conference, which will be the Balsamic Phase of our 16th Annual Conference. Our theme is "The Next Step . . ." on our continuing journey into Light.

Drumming, singing and dancing around the wheel was a joy to participate in. Our circle included people from many reaches of our country as well as Canada and each would take the energy with them to their area. In a real way, this radiates the Light energy and high vibrations of which our 'family' is composed.

Our day ended with rain, a much needed commodity in the VA Beach area, truly a sign of great blessing. The joy of community camaraderie, celebration, and ceremony will stay with us as we prepare for:

The Next Step . . .

October 17-23, 2008

We began our Journey of the second round of the phases without Buz, yet we have successfully kept on the path…. And now we take The Next Step into the most exciting time for humanity! We trust we'll be seeing you next year at the Surfside in VA Beach. Come, take that next step with us down the path to the 2008 Conference….and grab the hand of someone you love and bring them with you!

The "On-Timers" of For Purpose, Inc., send you and yours

Many Blessings for a Sacred Thanksgiving and Holiday Season!

Report on "SHARING SACRED SPACE" 2006 Conference and
the Post-Conference Activities

November 27, 2006

Sharing Sacred Space was filled with the loving energy of the FPI Community folks! The evaluations received spoke of a week of delightful learning experiences, great presentations by our speakers and facilitators, a powerful Healing Service, and the excitement of sharing in the energies of a group such as this! Everyone seemed to have a great and enjoyable time. The week just went by way too quickly!

Our Friday, October 20, 2006, Post-Conference activities began with 20 of us piling into cars to head for the Buff Foundation Memorial Walkway at 47th street. Yaxki Welker led us in a ceremony honoring our founder, Robert Buz Myers, as we gathered in a circle around the stone that had been placed in his memory. As if requested by Spirit, a lady visiting the Memorial Walkway was on hand to snap our photo!

After the ceremony, several left the group of 20 to head back home after smooches and hugs to send them on their way. Our next stop was the ARE Labyrinth where we walked the Labyrinth in prayerful silence. The energy of this sacred space that is open to the public was palpable. Our group included elders as well as youth with all ages in between. Prayers went out to the world and to Mother Earth.

Mary’s Restaurant was our next stop for a delicious lunch. Amazingly, there were tables just cleaned off and put together for our large group, so we didn’t have to wait for a space at this busy and popular restaurant. More good-byes were said as others left the group to continue on their journey home after our community lunch.

Eight of us went to the First Landing State Park to make a Medicine Wheel and set the intention for our conference in 2007. Eight of us—one for each phase! We’ll be journeying around the wheel for the 15th time, our Third Quarter Phase set for October 19-25, 2007, with the theme of “The Journey Continues….”

Mother Nature offers metaphors for our lives in very real ways. As we parked the cars at the park, the wind was blowing quite heartily, kicking up sand and blowing the stinging granules everywhere. We began walking on the well-worn pathway alongside the water; then, because of the strong winds, we veered off the beaten path and found ourselves walking through scattered weeds that were loaded with burrs! Some of us were in open-toed sandals; some in long pants. Everyone got the burrs!

At times stopping to pull out the bothersome burrs, we made our way close to some trees and set the Phase Wheel. A small crystal globe of Earth was placed in the center of the Wheel along with a Tranquility Stone. The Directions were called in and then we stated our intent for the next conference. We sang and chanted while the cleansing Winds of Change blew -- the winds of transformation coming together with the fire of the Sun, the water nearby, and the sweet Earth.

As we looked about the circle of 8, we realized we had a representative from many different countries and directions. Zulay Krepley was originally from Venezuela; Joey Crinita from Canada; Anna Novostad from Germany; Sandra Mosley from Hawaii; Howard Hill from Ohio; Edna Matthews from Virginia; Jonnie-Ruth Kuhn from Florida; and Charlotte Abell from Maryland.

Our desires for peace in the world as well as peace within ourselves floated out into the strong Winds of Change into the universe. Our metaphor with the burrs was that, as a group of people, we have stepped off the beaten path and there would be a few burrs along the way. However, they can easily be picked off. Our job is to just keep on the journey. After our sacred ceremony, we gathered to pull off the rest of the burrs—almost like monkeys picking off bothersome things from each other. Group process for sure!

Anna, who lives in Germany, stated that after WW II with the tremendous destruction in her country, the people had to gather their strength, live their peace, and know there would be something new in their future. They would need to work together for the changes they envisioned—to come together in unity around the creation of a new life and to move into the changes that were necessary.

We began our Honoring Mother Earth Day with a circle at the stone set for Buz; we ended our day with a circle in the sacred space of First Landing Park. The joy of community camaraderie, celebration, and ceremony will stay with us as we prepare for ….

The Journey Continues…..
October 19-25, 2007

We have playfully added “thrilling” to the thoughts about the journey for the 2007 conference. Our brochure will sport a photo taken by Jonnie-Ruth that shows Joey and Iris walking down a path towards some construction that is taking place along the oceanfront. This aptly symbolizes “The Journey Continues…” -- walking into the future with its construction already underway.

We trust we’ll be seeing you next year at the Surfside in VA Beach. Come, journey with us down the path to the 2007 conference….. and grab the hand of someone you love and bring them with you!

Secretary's report on the election results and the annual meeting of the Board of Directors on March 3, 2006:

April 4, 2006

SPRING GREETINGS to everyone and a great big THANK YOU to the all the
candidates and voters who participated in the recent For Purpose Inc.
election !!

Twelve candidates vied for nine board positions. Minimal ballots were cast, so the result was a close election.
Two at-large community members in Stuart, Florida, counted the ballots on March 3rd, and turned the results in to FPI officers Karen Malfregeot and Jonnie-Ruth Kuhn.

Alphabetically, here are the 9 new directors:
Charlotte Abell
Linda Bress
Linda Coleman
Jonnie-Ruth Kuhn
Iris Lee
Karen Malfregeot
Edna Matthews
Andrea Lynne Rice
Guy Wagner

To candidates Sally Eylat, Verlin Miller, and Chris Tyna - we sincerely
appreciate your stepping forward. Please consider running again in the
future. From this point onward, there will be an election each year in
January for three of the rotating positions.

All of the newly elected directors were present at the annual meeting of the Board of Directors held in Virginia Beach on March 18th. In order to start the rotation of terms again, each of the nine directors will serve one, two, or three year terms, after which they are eligible to run for election to the board again if they so choose:

Charlotte Abell * two years
Linda Bress * one year
Linda Coleman * one year
Jonnie-Ruth Kuhn * three years
Iris Lee * three years
Karen Malfregeot * two years
Edna Matthews * two years
Andrea Lynne Rice * one year
Guy Wagner * three years

Once the rotation is in effect, future board terms will be 3 years.
The following directors were elected as officers for one year:

President * Karen Malfregeot
Vice President * Linda Bress
Secretary * Edna Matthews
Treasurer * Jonnie-Ruth Kuhn

Karen Malfregeot agreed to continue being For Purpose Inc.'s registered agent. Since FPI is incorporated in Florida, we must have a Florida resident as our legal contact. Karen has handled the responsibility for the necessary FPI filings and fee payments since the beginning of FPI in 1994. Thank you Karen !!

A major item of business for this board meeting was to review the original 1994 bylaws and to update them to reflect our current operations. Karen will retype the bylaws as amended. Copies will be available for review at the October conference.

Linda Bress agreed to continue storing supplies and items from our October conference.

Karen reported that she had found a possible source for lapel pins for our community, and will do further research on these.

For the 2006 conference, the board authorized updating our web site and our brochure. The web site address is www.FollowTheMoon.org.

Registration fees were also approved: $250 if received by October 1st; $300 for registration after October 1st.

It is important for everyone to pre-register this year to assist the coordinators and facilitators in overall planning for the conference.

The dates for the conference, "Sharing Sacred Space," are October 13-19 with Oct. 20 the optional Mother Earth Day.

The Youth Wheel will be offered for the first time this fall, and will be
for the weekend only; pre-registration for it will be mandatory. Further
information on this new wheel will be on the web site and included in
information sent later.

Jonnie-Ruth and Charlotte will be sending additional information about the conference, SHARING SACRED SPACE, OCTOBER 13-19, later this Spring/Summer.

The brochure for the conference will be disseminated soon to all of you via e-mail and/or hard copy

Love and Blessings to All,
Edna Matthews
Secretary
